MACOMB, Mich., September 1, 2022 – Baker Industries, a Lincoln Electric Company, will be a host site and an All-In Sponsor for Macomb County’s Manufacturing Day 2022 (MFG Day).
During the week of October 3 – 7, 2022, the company will open its doors to approximately 2,000 students from 27 Macomb County high schools, as well as teachers, parents, dignitaries, and government officials. A wide range of careers within the industry will be highlighted, including administrative, sales and marketing, design and engineering, program management, fabrication and welding, CNC machining, tool building, metrology and more.
MFG Day, a nationwide annual event held in communities across the country, is supported by thousands of manufacturers as they host students, teachers, parents, and community members at open houses, plant tours and more to change perceptions of manufacturing, showcase the outstanding opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide and recognize the high-tech and innovative companies that are solving tomorrow’s problems today.
“With a significant percentage of today’s manufacturing workforce aged 55 or older, the industry is already experiencing an unprecedented shortage of skilled workers, which will only continue to grow. Now more than ever, it’s crucial for employers to build a bigger, better workforce by inspiring the next generation of talent to pursue a rewarding career in manufacturing,” said Anne Sadowski, Baker’s human resources manager.
According to a Deloitte study following the 2016 event, a survey of students found that 84 percent said they “were more convinced that manufacturing provided careers that were interesting and rewarding,” and 64 percent “were more motivated to pursue a career in manufacturing.”
