MACOMB, Mich., May 11, 2022 – Baker Industries, a Lincoln Electric Company, recently donated a showpiece aerospace tool to Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983, offering a gateway to education, information, and collaboration for space exploration and space-inspired industries that define the global space ecosystem.
The scaled model of a composite lay-up facesheet commonly used in aerospace and defense manufacturing was produced using the company’s proprietary wire arc additive manufacturing technology. It will be displayed at Space Foundation’s Discovery Center, where it will be used to educate the next generation of space leaders about up-and-coming manufacturing technologies and their applications in the industry.
“Space Foundation’s Discovery Center is just another outlet through which we can support STEM education,” said Brian Baker, Vice President/General Manager at Baker Industries. “We are grateful to be able to support the next generation of industry leaders.”
“At the Discovery Center, our goal is to bring the community together through hands-on STEM learning and inspire tomorrow’s space explorers,” said Rachel English, Director of Space Foundation Discovery Center. “The generous donation of the showpiece model from Baker Industries allows us to continue to promote innovative technology to visitors in a tangible manner for years to come.”
