Lockheed Martin Presents Baker Industries with Outstanding Small Business Award

On May 14th, 2019, Lockheed Martin presented Baker Industries with the Lockheed Martin Small Business Award. Baker Industries was recognized for their outstanding machining contribution to Lockheed Martin’s Research & Development program. With only 27 companies awarded, Baker Industries is honored to be one of them. Tim Rietz, Aerospace Operations Manager, and John Kuhr, Business Developer, attended the ceremony at Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control Center in Orlando, Florida, to accept the award.

Raymond Rampi, Supply Chain Director of Tactical & Strike Missiles, nominated Baker Industries for this award. Rampi had this to say about Baker Industries:

“Baker Industries has provided a long term solution to reducing long lead times for highly complex machined parts at an affordable price. They started working to model files and prioritizing parts under a developmental Time & Materials contract to mitigate schedule risk, order material and machine programming features, while final engineering was completed. Their ability to react and respond quickly to engineering changes has assisted greatly in meeting specific schedule milestones, which has enabled the program to build test vehicles.

Since the start of our partnership, Baker Industries has proven to be a valuable member in the Lockheed Martin supply chain and has taken on difficult challenges to support Lockheed Martin. Their machines run over the weekend and they have given us advanced notice of when machine capacity is available to help prioritize our most critical needed parts over others. Baker Industries continues to support status calls and communicates with us daily on pressing items. They continue to fight tough battles each day to deliver quality hardware on time while complying with all the contractual requirements to make sure they are employing the latest engineering.”

Baker Industries sincerely appreciates the kind words from Mr. Raymond Rampi and is very proud of the relationship they have built with Lockheed Martin. They’re going to continue to work hard at providing cutting edge machining & technology that will allow this partnership to reach the next level.
